Attention All Grandparents!
Happy Grandparents Day! Watch the mail for a very special letter written especially for you by your Kaufman Cougar.
Scientists at Work
We are learning about matter - solids, liquids, and gases. We are also learning about the scientific method, and becoming very serious scientists. This week we did an experiment called "Drop by Drop." Our problem was to determine how many drops of water could be held on the surface of a penny, before spilling over. We hypothesized, then gathered data. We found out, to our surprise, that a penny could hold over 20 drops of water! We learned that the liquid spread over the surface of the penny, but the molecules tried to hold tight, so the water kept building up on top. The water built up like a dome! Try it at home. All you need is an eye dropper, some water, and a penny.

Parent Information Night
We hope your mom or dad or both can make it up to Kaufman on Tuesday, September 8th. It's Parent Information Night. The time is 7:00 - 7:45 p.m. and we will all meet in Mrs. Carrell's room. Mrs. Cordaway and Mrs. Carrell have a PowerPoint presentation and an information sheet to give to the parents. There is a lot of information to present, all in 45 minutes! Everyone should have a chance to stop by and check out Mrs. Cordaway's classroom, also.
