Welcome to Second Grade!

Welcome to our classrooms! We have been very busy, getting the rooms all set up for the start of an exciting new school year. We can't wait to meet you!

We hope that you got your postcard in the mail, and can come see us at Kaufman on Thursday, August 18 between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. Be sure to stop by both classrooms - your school supplies will be dropped off in your homeroom teacher's room but definitely visit your "switch" teacher, too. Our rooms are side-by-side and we are easy to find.

Mrs. Cordaway teaches Reading, Spelling, and Language Arts. Mrs. Carrell teaches Math, Science, and Social Studies. We have lots of great lessons planned for you.

We are all ready for the start of a fabulous school year!

State Projects - March 2011

The students worked so hard on their awesome state reports! We are so proud of them. They presented them to their classmates, and were so knowledgeable about the state they chose. We all learned a lot from the presentations. Now the projects are on display in the hallway for the whole school to see.

Visit from Oak Ridge High School Chemistry Students

On March 9, we had a lesson on slime and polymers from Oak Ridge High School chemistry students. The high school students were impressed with how much our students knew about solids, liquids, and gases, and how well-behaved they were, and how much they knew about safe lab behaviors. Each student marveled at their slime as it formed, and we were all able to take home some slime in a baggie. It was fun!
